At the time, Mantle was working for Claridge Casino, which hosted the event. The festivities began the night of Oct. 20, 1984 for Mantle's birthday and continued well into the early hours of Oct. 21, for Whitey's. The first ball is signed "Best Wishes Mickey Mantle" by Mantle on one side panel and "10-21-84 Happy Birthday Party at the Claridge in Atlantic City Whitey Ford" by Ford on the opposite panel.
