Description: 1977 World Series Game #1 First Pitch baseball from Whitey Ford. Historic MacPhail AL baseball thrown by Whitey Ford for the first pitch of the 1977 World Series between the L.A. Dodgers and New York Yankees. The game was played at Yankee Stadium on October 11, 1977 with the home team capturing a dramatic extra inning victory to open the Series. The subsequent games proved to be equally electric, including the legendary performance of Reggie Jackson in Game #6 in which he belted three home runs to lead the Yankees to the World Championship. The ball itself has a few minimal age toning spots and is inscribed, "Opening Ball 1977 World Series 1st Game - 10-11-77" in period black ink. Rare and desirable first pitch ball from a classic World Series. Includes letter of provenance from Whitey Ford: EX-MT
