Top of lid retains nice color and contrast with some light inpainting to a few small abrasions and surface scratches. Interior exhibits typical moderate usage wear with intact spinner. See a Picture of this Item 1303 Rare and possibly unique E-Z Ball Gum coin operated gumball machine with baseball marquee c.1920's. Fine quality painted cast iron base retains its original blown glass bowl with original E-Z gum decal on front. Includes two vintage padlocks and remains in working order. Atop the bowl is the original wrapped celluloid marquee sign featuring a baseball game scene graphic. Flanking the game scene are two vertical "scoreboards" one of which lists star players incl. Cobb, Ruth, Speaker, and Johnson. Sign has some moderate age wear incl. a few surface scratches but remains complete and intact with no restoration. The offered machine was recently discovered in a private estate where it had been obtained in the period. This machine is the mate to the seldom seen E-Z Ball Gum machine with a generic batter marquee. See a Picture of this Item 1315 Rare original baseball illustrative painting by Charles Dye c.1950's. Very well executed color illustrative painting on board by noted artist Charles Dye who grew up on cow ranches in the Western United States. After a riding accident he pursued commercial art and in 1936 moved to New York to become a magazine illustrator painting covers and illustrations for many of the major American publications. The offered painting measures 11"x13" depicting a young vendor with a full container of soda and scorecards being rained out at the opening game between the Dodgers and Giants. Dye perfectly captures the moment with vibrant usage of color and expression that brings the viewer into the scene. Retains original paper label on reverse offering the piece for usage in a World Series program and is signed by Dye at lower right. Original art by Dye lists very well with works selling within the past several years for between $2,500.00-$40,000.00. Incredibly rare ticket issued to Lincoln Giants player Arthur Chambers for a game played between the Hilldale Daisies and Kansas City Monarchs on October 8, 1925 at baker Bowl in Philadelphia. The 1925 Series was a rematch between the two early Negro League powerhouses with Hilldale prevailing by 5 games to 1. Players that participated in the Series included Mackey, Johnson, Mendez, and Santop. Ticket was affixed to a scrapbook page and retains black paper on the reverse which could most likely be removed if so desired. Obtained directly from the dugout by a stadium employee after it was discarded and the employee had Bunning sign the card at the top in blue ink.
