Description: Rare original baseball illustrative painting by Charles Dye c.1950's. Very well executed color illustrative painting on board by noted artist Charles Dye who grew up on cow ranches in the Western United States. After a riding accident he pursued commercial art and in 1936 moved to New York to become a magazine illustrator painting covers and illustrations for many of the major American publications. The offered painting measures 11"x13" depicting a young vendor with a full container of soda and scorecards being rained out at the opening game between the Dodgers and Giants. Dye perfectly captures the moment with vibrant usage of color and expression that brings the viewer into the scene. Retains original paper label on reverse offering the piece for usage in a World Series program and is signed by Dye at lower right. Original art by Dye lists very well with works selling within the past several years for between $2,500.00-$40,000.00.
