Description: Baseball game painting by Helen LaFrance, 1997. Original oil on canvas board artwork has been signed "Helen LaFrance" at lower right and dated 1997. The scene depicted is of a baseball game in action being played by a group of African Americans. Framed to 26.5"x22.5". LaFrance was a self-taught painter, woodcarver, and quilt maker who spent most of her life in the small town of Mayfield, Kentucky. Her body of work sought to document to culture and landscape of rural Kentucky and she did so in a charming style.
