Lot Number: 209

Description: Lety O'Doul professional model baseball bat c.1920s. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat with O'Doul facsimile signature in the barrel measures 25.75" long and weighs 38.9oz. Strong use is evident throughout with ball/contact marks throughout the hitting surface. A handle crack has been secured in place with glue and the front of the barrel is tacked in placed with (10) vintage nails. Factory sidewriting can not be fully deciphered but it is dated 1939 and begins with the name "Wes" (suggesting that the bat was not returned by O'Doul himself). O'Doul remains an important figure in the history of both the Major and Pacific Coast Leagues and is credited with introducing baseball to Japan on a large scale. It would not be surprising to see him inducted into the Hall of Fame by the Veteran's Committee at some point in the future. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions: EX
