Lot Number: 202

Description: Rare and desirable G.C. Alexander single signed baseball c.1930s. Red and blue stitched "Pepper Martin Official League" baseball has been signed "G.C. Alexander" across the sweetspot. The signature rates approx. 7 out of 10 (with some fading to a portion of the last name). Ball is toned/soiled with some mild general surface wear. For (2) decades Alexander struck fear into the hearts of National League batters winning a total of (373) games while playing with the Phillies, Cubs, and Cardinals. He won the pitching Triple Crown (3) times (1915, 16, and 20) and was the National League's leader in wins (6) times, ERA (4) times, and strikeouts (6) times. In 1926 he helped lead the Cardinals to the World Series and then won it for them by striking out Tony Lazzeri with the bases full in the final and deciding game. Single signed baseballs of Alexander are seldom offered and this example is fresh to the market. Includes full LOA from JSA: VG-EX
