Description: Outstanding Eddie Mathews professional model baseball glove c.1959-60. Fine quality left handed glove is a top of the line Rawlings Bob Dillinger signature model "BD" with anchored web. Number "41" is written in ink beside the manufacturers label on the wrist strap. Strong use is evident throughout along with some light natural age related wear. The included PSA documentation relays that Mathews can be seen holding the c.1957 model of the same glove (Getty Image 52698678) which was nearly identical with the exception of the wrist strap anchor. It was obtained directly from Mrs. Mathews by our consignor who spent decades working in Major League Baseball as a member of the front office of several organizations. Mathews remains among the best third basemen ever to play the game helping the Braves to a pair of World Series Championships in 1957 and 1958. A (12) time All-Star he was a powerful force at the plate twice leading the National League in home runs and he would hit (512) during his storied career. Seldom do game gloves of such significance come with such a direct chain of unbroken provenance.
