Description: Exceedingly rare Eddie Collins autographed professional model baseball bat c.1926-29 (PSA/DNA GU 6)(Only known signed Collins pro bat) Zinn Beck model 100 bat with "Type Of Bat Used By Collins" block lettering beneath the centerbrand measures 34.5" long and weighs 33.5oz. Uncracked with evidence of mild use including contact/hit marks and some other scattered wear to the barrel. What appear to be the initials "TL" are hand carved into the knob. Signed "Eddie Collins" in fountain pen rating approx. 6 out of 10. Zinn Beck bats are documented to have been manufactured for both professional and retail use dependent upon quality/model number. The significance of Collins; autograph on the offered professional model bat cannot be overstated as to its circumstantial corroboration of game use for a Zinn Beck bat. Collins ranks among baseball's most noted early hitters and was the 6th player in history to reach the elusive plateau of (3,000) when he did so in 1925. In a career which spanned 1906-1930 he was a member of (6) World Championship teams and earned the American League M.V.P. Award in 1914. The significance of an autographed game bat surfacing cannot be overstated with the presence of the signature placing the bat definitively within Collins' hands. By any measure, autographed game bats are among the scarcest and most coveted among collectors. Attaining both a professional model player bat in addition to having access to a corroborative signature is a extraordinary rarity for bat examples from the 1920-50s era. Almost certainly a lone surviving specimen of the highest significance. Includes LOAs from JSA, Hunt Auctions, and PSA/DNA (GU 6): EX
