Description:Babe Ruth's "Yankee Sock" c.1920-30s. Men's athletic sock of a heavy gauge navy blue wool displays evident usage wear. The long length (measures approx. 30" when laid flat) is consistent with those which the Yankees would have worn given period imagery which show socks extended to just below the knee as the team wore both stirrup and non-stirrup examples. The sock was recently discovered within the Ruth Family Collection and includes the original envelope (modern era) in which it was stored which has "Daddy's Necktie" written on the outside in the hand of Julia Ruth Stevens. Incredibly interesting and likely unique surviving example with primary source documentation within the Ruth family collection. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions and letter of provenance from the Ruth family: EX
