Description: Bill Dickey attributed c.1930s professional model catcher's mitt with strong provenance. Top of the line two-tone glove by Reach has black leather interior. The original single loop web and buckle back wrist closure remain in place. Strong usage wear is evident throughout with a few small tears and missing stiches near hand opening. The New York Yankees venerable workhorse, Dickey played a key role on the team serving as their catcher for a (19) year span during which they won (8) American League and (7) World Series Championships. Along the way he handled some of the best pitchers of the 1930s and 40s and played in the shadow of many of baseball's greatest stars. Ownership of the glove can be traced directly to Dickey through an included letter of provenance signed by Joe Franklin, the famed long-time television host whom was well known for his eclectic collection of artifacts which were gathered throughout his career. Includes LOAs from Hunt Auctions and SCD Authentic and Joe Franklin letter of provenance: EX
