Description: Oversized "Pacific Southwest AAU Association Outstanding Athlete" trophy, c.1940s (VG/EX). Large and ornate presentational trophy stands nearly 39" tall with the round wooden base supporting a number of figural and/or upright pieces. An engraved metal placard on the front reads "Pacific Southwest AAU Association, Outstanding Athlete Award, M.C. Pfefferkorn Trophy, The Father of San Diego AAU", and a metal ball is lettered "A.A.U. Pacific Southwest Assoc. Outstanding Athlete Award" at the top. There are a number of figural pieces attached representing a variety of sports including basketball, boxing, track & field, and diving (one figure is loose although it could likely be tightened were the trophy taken apart).
