Description: Outstanding lot of (12) Cardinals "Gashouse Gang" figurines by artist Charles Caldwell, including Dean & Medwick (VG-NM). Exceptionally well done and intricately detailed group of figurines were commissioned in the 1980s by our consignor's husband from noted Gettysburg artist Charles Caldwell (1923-2019), who created more than 15,000 miniature figures of presidents, athletes and other subjects over the course of his career using "sculpey," a clay-like material that hardened after baking. Figurines measure approx. 6"x3 1/4" with a wooden base and identifier, and feature (12) members of the iconic 1934 Cardinals team: Bill Delancey, Jesse Haines, Joe Medwick (bat broken off at the fingers but is included), Frankie Frisch, Bill Hallahan, Daffy Dean, Leo Durocher, Dizzy Dean, Pepper Martin, Jack Rothrock, Ernie Orsatti and Rip Collins. Also included is a photo of the figurines on display. Figurines appear EX/MT-NM other than Medwick noted above. Range: VG-NM.Final Bid: $437.00
