Description: Interesting Pottsville Maroons related archive from the Estate of sports writer Joseph Zacko incl. 1927 game film, (18) 1960s "East vs. West" football broadsides, newspapers/clippings, etc. (Overall EX) Sizable and interesting group comes from the estate of Zacko who was a booster for the team and played a large role in getting them recognition for their early accomplishments. Most appears to date to the 1960s with some earlier mixed in. Includes an early metal film reel which is housed in case with label reading "Pottsville Maroons 1927." It has not been viewed but inspection of the first several images appears to show a football game in action; (18) c.1960s 14"x22" heavy stock cardboard "3rd Annual East vs. West All Star Football Game, Veterans Memorial Stadium, Pottsville+" advertising broadsides. These are illustrated with neon red and green accents and white lettering on black background and are by themselves very nice display pieces. The back of each has affixed newsprint or publication articles or copies/mimeographs which mostly date to the 1960s and relate to the Pottsville Maroons (there is some other content incl. the football Hall of Fame); "Pottsville Maroons 1925 World Champions" book (likely published c.1963) which has "Zacko" written on front cover and some handwritten notes throughout; several audio or video recordings related to the Maroons on an early video tape and (4) film/tape reels. It is unclear if this is audio, video, or a combination thereof and if it will play; June 1963 Maroons Testimonial and Reunion program which has some ink notations and marks on front cover; 1969 Football Hall of Fame yearbook; 1964 Hall of Fame Game Colts vs. Steelers program (with some ink natations on cover); and a sizeable archive of newspaper and publication clippings which are largely related to the Maroons (mostly 1960s) along with some photocopied earlier articles and other material.
