Description: Late 1950s "John L. Sullivan World Championship Belt Diplay" hand painted wooden sign (EX) Large handmade and painted wooden signed done c.1957 to advertise a display of John L. Sullivan's World Championship presentational belt which had been purchased by a Hammond, Indiana newspaper publisher. It measures approx. 54"x16.5" at extremes with yellow and white lettering contrasting nicely against a stark green background. Signed by the maker, "Swan" in small block letter print. Includes a vintage 8"x10" black and white photograph of a similar sign which was part of the actual display. Two sections of a frame which likely held an image of Sullivan on left side are missing. Light to moderate scattered wear as would be expected given use and age: EX ($400-$600)Final Bid: $195.00
