Description:Christy Mathewson personal World War I related equipment and related material. Assortment of pieces which were found within Mathewson's United States Army trunk and it presumed the most/all were with him when serving in France during World War I. Includes pair of leather leggings/gaiters; additional pair of heavy canvas and leather leggings/gaiters; a very well worn black leather belt; small handheld weapon being a leather wrapped spring handle with heavy metal end; metal whistle with "Acme" impressed mark; small metal mirror in canvas/cloth pouch; what appears to be a small metal lighter (stricker wheel missing) with "Gott Mit Uns" text on either side; small metal lock; and an addition circular piece of metal with purpose unknown. Varying degrees/types of wear throughout. Includes certificate of provenance and a small modern image of Mathewson in military uniform which was used in a Mathewson related display.
