Description: Christy Mathewson's World War I United States Army issued maps of France (3) with additional pieces. Includes paper maps of Montsec and (2) of Commerce in France which are each marked "Base Printing Plant 29th Engineers, U.S. Army 1918" and were issued to Christy Mathewson for use during his time there during World War I. All have fold lines and other general handling and storage wear (more pronounced wear on 2 of the pieces). Also includes approx. 7.5"x9" prints on glossy paper stock which are illustrations captioned as showing the "Gas Officers Club" and "Headquarters..." both at Choignes, France and longer panoramic print of a larger scene from the same area (this piece showing far heavier wear with tear and missing pieces on one end. These prints are accompanied by a 1919 dated typed note from a New York architect with whom Mathewson must have served who sent them after their return from the war. Varying degrees/types of wear throughout. Includes Mathewson Collection certificate of provenance: GD overall
