Description:Christy Mathewson scrapbook compiled by Jane Mathewson. Binder style scrapbook chronicles the career of Christy Mathewson, largely in the form of newspaper and/or publication page articles and clippings which are affixed throughout. Also mounted within are a likeness of Mathewson which was cut from a 1911 T3 Turkey Red cabinet card and another which was cut from his 1909-11 T206 dark cap pose. The clippings/articles cover the entire span of his lifetime beginning with a publication page image of Matty at the age of (3) months and continuing through the time of his unfortunate passing. Also found are a cutout of the cover image from the 1914 "Christy Mathewson Issue" of Baseball Magazine; vintage photograph of a Mathewson signed baseball and the young fan he presented it to (closely trimmed to ball/child); September 1921 Giants vs. Braves "Mathewson Testimonial" program; a good number of 1922 "For Health" stamps which were sold to benefit tuberculosis victims (some loose, the page before has an affixed newsprint cutout of the image of Matty which shows him with face visible in the center of a sheet of the stamps); c.1910s photo of unidentified Giants player (loose); small portrait photograph of Mathewson in his later years ("1924" is written below); and a "Christy Mathewson Memorial" program issued by Bucknell University. In fine overall condition however a good number of photographs were removed from the inside. Specifically noted on Mrs. Mathewson's handwritten inventory as having been prepared by herself.
