Description: November 25, 1915 Christy Mathewson "Thanksgiving Day Tournament" presentational match safe. Vintage metal match safe with hinged lid has "Thanksgiving Day Tournament November 25 - 1915" text engraved. At the center is raised logo comprised of a winged foot. A New York Times article published the following day relays that Christy Mathewson had joined Chief Bender and Doc Crandall to participate in a trap shooting competition at the New York Athletic Club (referred to as the "Winged Foot organization" and the club still uses a winged foot as part of their logo to this day) on Thanksgiving Day in 1915. The trio of ballplayers was handily defeated. Light tarnish and some mild wear. Includes Mathewson Collection certificate of provenance: EXEstimated Price Range: ($2,000-$3,000)
