Description: Christy Mathewson Keystone Academy "Class of 1898" photograph c.1900. Famed sepia toned image (approx. 5"x7") showing Matty along with his High School classmates posed in a studio setting. There are a series of period ink notations on the back which include "Keystone Academy Class of 1898…taken Dec 1900…" While known as Keystone College today it was then a High School. Mathewson was (19) years old in 1900 and had made his Major League debut with the New York Giants in July of that year. On its' original 10"x12" mount with "Manchester...Factoryville, PA." mark. Image remains in fine overall condition with a few minor flaws, mount has some spots of discoloration, corner chipping, and a crack at the top. Tape around the edges on back is likely the result of prior mounting. Includes Mathewson Collection certificate of provenance: Image EX, Mount GD
