Description: Christy Mathewson and Keystone Academy classmates photograph c.1900. Sepia toned photograph showing a young Christy Mathewson along with members of his graduating class from Keystone Academy. While known as Keystone College today it was then a High School. Another picture (also offered within this sale) which appears to have been taken that same day bears a period notation on the back which relays that Matty is shown with members of the class of 1898 in the photograph which was taken in December of 1900. Matty was (19) years old in 1900 and had made his Major League debut with the New York Giants in July of that year. The 4"x5.5" photo is on its' original 5.75"x6.75" mount with impressed "Manchester...Factoryville, PA." mark. Mild general handling and storage wear including a crease on the left edge and there are some handwritten notations (and small spot of discoloration) on the back.
