Description:Outstanding Hank Aaron autographed professional model baseball bat c.1973-75 (PSA "GU 9.5"). Louisville Slugger 125 model bat with Aaron facsimile signature in the barrel measures 35" long and weighs 32.7oz. Model number "A99" is factory stamped in the knob. The number "44" is written on either in vintage black marker. Uncracked with evidence is nice use including embedded ball and contact marks to the hitting surface which has some mild grain swelling due to repeated contact. In addition, there are a number of rack streaks. Signed "Hank Aaron" in marker with the vintage c.1970s era autograph rating 8 out of 10. The bat originated from the personal collection of Tom Mulcahy who was a long time scout and executive with the San Diego Padres. Mulcahy had developed a friendship with Aaron having broken into MLB in 1954 at the same time as rookies. After Hank Aaron had belted his 708th and 709th career home runs during a game played in San Diego on September 4th, 1973 he signed the offered bat and presented it directly to Mulcahy. Based on comparison with period images of the two home runs the offered bat is not the bat used during that game. Also included with the bat is a period Feeney NL baseball having been inscribed Spalding C.Feeney ONL baseball, which is soiled and shows wear, has been signed "Hank Aaron" on the side panel in vintage ink rating 8/9 out of 10. Written above and below in unknown hand is "Hank Aaron's Autograph...Sept. 4th 1973, On occasion of His 707th & 708th Home Runs." While the ball certainly appears to show game use and was likely used during the aforementioned game we cannot be positive. An additional newspaper article detailing the game from the San Diego Union with a secretarial signed Aaron autograph is also included. Very fine Aaron game bat with impeccable primary source provenance being offered for the first time publicly. Includes full LOAs from JSA (autographs on bat/ball) and LOA from PSA/DNA (GU 9.5): EX
