Lot Number: 120

Description: Exceptional Tris Speaker professional model baseball bat c.1922-23 (PSA "GU 8.5). Louisville Slugger 125 model bat with Speaker facsimile signature in the barrel measures 36" long and weighs 40.8oz. Uncracked with evidence of excellent use including ball marks on the hitting surface and some scattered cleat marks. A touch of water staining is mentioned for accuracy although this has no impact eye appeal which is outstanding. Between attributes particular to the centerbrand and traits which match orders for "His Cleveland BBC" model as noted in factory records, the bat is dated to the 1922-23 time period. Speaker remains one of the greatest all around players in baseball history with a career batting average of (.345) placing him 6th all-time, (3,514) hits now ranking 5th, and his (792) doubles still a Major League record. Equally a threat from a defensive standpoint, he holds records for assists and double plays and his glove was said to be the place "where triples go to die." Notable Speaker game bats are very rarely offered and this example of one of the very best we have handled. Includes LOAs from PSA/DNA (graded "GU 8.5") and Hunt Auctions: EX
