Description: Important 1887-88 N173 Old Judge Cabinets Buck Ewing (Bat in right hand at side). Striking large format (4.25"x6.5") cabinet card issued as part of a sought after series by Goodwin & Co. in exchange for coupons inserted in packages of Old Judge cigarettes. These cabinets rank among the desirable of all early tobacco cards and are notably rare with this being the only example of this particular pose which has been authenticated and graded by PSA. Image quality remains exceptional with Hall of Famer Ewing shown in a crisp and clear sepia toned photograph. The mount is nearly "as issued" with a few very minor scattered imperfections including a faint crease to extreme lower right corner. Graded "VG-EX 4" which is fair with regard to technical attributes however the piece presents at a far greater level. Only (99) N173 Old Judge Cabinets have been authenticated by PSA in total (with regard to any player/pose) and of those this falls squarely within the top 25% in condition.
