Description: 1985 Walter Payton "National Football League Player of The Year" Timmie Award. Impressive figural trophy presented to Walter Payton in recognition of the 1985 season in which he rushed for over (1,500) yards and helped lead the Chicago Bears to a Super Bowl Championship. Presentational piece stands just over 16" tall with "Touchdown Club of Washington, D.C." logo and "Timmie Award" titling medallions affixed to the base. Below are a pair of engraved placards reading "The Timmie Award, To The National Football League Player Of The Year, National Conference..." and "Walter Payton Chicago Bears." Nice overall condition with a touch of wear to include a few small nicks/chips to the black finish and some mild tarnish. The Timmie Awards are presented annually across a broad number of categories and are generally considered among the most prestigious given out. The past roster of NFL Player of The Year Award recipients, as named by the Touchdown Club, includes some of the most noted players of all-time with Payton himself having earned the honor twice.
