Description: Important 1869 "Chadwick's American Game of Base Ball" book. First edition of the seminal work by Henry Chadwick which in full is titled, "The Game of Base Ball. How to Learn it, How to Play it, and How to Teach it. With Sketches of Noted Players." Among the earliest authoritative books written on the game it is widely considered to be the most important written in the 19th Century. Notably rare with an estimated (20) to (25) copies or so that have survived and very seldom offered. In fine overall condition with some minor wear to covers. All pages are intact (though some do have some creasing at corners) and firmly affixed however there is a slight separation of the contents from the cover at front (all pages are attached to each other at bound edge and the contents are largely attached to the covers however the book need be handled with some care).
