Lot Number: 185

Description: Rare and important 1919 World Series Game Eight ticket stub (World Series Clinching Game)(PSA 1.5 FR)(Only two graded higher). Desirable original ticket stub issued for the Series clinching game played at Comiskey Park which culminated one of the most famous (and infamous) World Series ever played. The Reds won by a score of 10-5 with White Sox pitcher Lefty Williams giving up (4) runs in the first inning. Williams was one of (8) players in on "The Fix" to throw games for the benefit of gamblers. It is rumored that Williams was told before the game that if the White Sox should win both he and his wife would not live through the night. While all ticket stubs related to the 1919 World Series are in high demand those issued for the final, and deciding, Game (8) have proven to be the most elusive with this being one of just (5) total which have been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA (of those, 3 have been assigned a number grade and there are only 2 - both graded GD 2 - higher). Printed information on the front remains legible and well defined as does the majority on the back which is effected in a few small areas by surface loss. Otherwise there is some mild general wear throughout including some minor wrinkles/creases: PSA FR 1.5
