Lot Number: 158

Description: Rare Gus Suhr Pittsburgh Pirates professional model road uniform c.1933-35. Road gray jersey has "Pirates" team name across the front and number "24" on back. The name "Suhr" is chain stitched in the collar beside a "Spalding" manufacturers tag (tag has fraying and has a small amount of loss). Piping around the sleeve openings is intact however only the outline of that which used to ring the neckline remains. Matching pants likewise have "Suhr" stitched in the waist beside intact "Spalding" label. Red trim running down each leg (has a few areas of loss) and the blue belt loops compliment the colors of the lettering/trim on the jersey to make for a highly visual presentation. Original red, white, and blue stirrup socks (one with sewn on Spalding label) complete the uniform. Use and some general age related wear are evident throughout with the numbers on jersey partially secured in a few small areas where they had separated from the original stitching and there are a few other scattered imperfections. The lower (2) buttons have been replaced. Pants have a team repair and some staining and one sock has torn nearly in half. An exceedingly rare complete uniform and one of only a handful from this time period, related to any team, which we have offered. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions: VG-EX
