Description: Very rare Babe Ruth St. Mary's photograph c.1920s (PSA Type IV). Seldom offered period image picturing Ruth as a member of the 1912 St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys baseball team. Ruth was a catcher for the team as a teenager and is pictured in the back row wearing full uniform and holding catcher's mask/mitt. Sepia tone photo measures 7"x9" and was printed in the 1920s period exhibiting fine contrast and clarity for its issue date. Reverse has typewritten identification label denoting the use of the image in the 1917 St. Mary's annual reports. Period copies of this important image are exceedingly rare with scant few entering the collecting marketplace.
