Description: UPDATED DESCRIPTION/ESTIMATE: Jackie Robinson related #42 base from the archives of Shea Stadium (MLB Authentication/MeiGray Authentication). Rawlings brand base with the number "42" screened on top was found within the archives of Shea Stadium when the long standing famed New York Mets venue was closed. While the exact purpose for its use is unknown it is presumed that it was part of a display or ceremony honoring Jackie Robinson. It appears to date to the 1970s or 80s and shows soiling/wear. Robinson is forever linked to the Mets who hosted the 1997 ceremonies during which his famed number "42" was retired by Major League Baseball: EXEstimated Price Range: ($2,500-$5,000)
