Description: Vida Blue 1971 American League Most Valuable Player award. Important original award presented in recognition of his 1971 season accomplishments measures 16" across with octagonal sterling silver placard affixed to the front of black wooden painted plaque. Gold bust of Commissioner K.M. Landis is positioned below the second base position of a baseball diamond which is titled "Most Valuable Player American League" and notes "Vida Blue" player and "Oakland Athletics" team names. The year "1971" appears within crossed bat and ball applique. Front is marked "Sterling" and the original "Dieges & Clust" label is on back below eyelet for hanging. Blue won (24) games with (8) coming by way of shutout and posted a League leading 1.82 ERA. His 1971 campaign was also good enough to earn the Cy Young Award. In fine overall condition with some typical minor surface wear to the wooden plaque and silver placard. Uncommon pitcher presented MVP award with relation to one of the most dominant individual player seasons in American League history. Includes signed letter of provenance from Vida Blue: EX-EX/MT
