Description: May 7, 1959 Roy Campanella Night presentational silver bowl from Joe Pignatano. Silverplated presentational bowl given participants in the legendary May 7, 1959 game between the Dodgers and Yankees at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The game was played to honor the fallen Roy Campanella who had become paralyzed in a car accident after the 1958 season. The game was attended by 93,103 fans and remains to date a Major League record. Front of the bowl is inscribed "Yankee-Dodger Game In Honor Of Roy Campanella May 7th, 1959 Los Angeles Coliseum". Marked "F.B. Rogers Silver Co." on base; 10" diameter. Bowl also includes its rare original wooden base with silverplated baseball ornament and facsimile signature of Campanella. The base also has an applied brass placard denoting its presentation to George Grafton. General surface wear including to the silverplating in several areas. Of the few examples of this desirable trophy that have entered the marketplace (incl. Campanella's), very few retain the original wooden base with ball ornament. 14" total length: VG-EX
