Lot Number: 107

Description: 1918-1944 Minneapolis Millers "Minute Book." Leather bound volume is gilt lettered "Minute Book, Minneapolis, Base Ball & Athletic Association" on the front cover. Contained inside are summations of Club related meetings/activities, many of which have been signed by team executives. The Millers were bought by a group of Minnesota businessmen in May of 1918 and they would run the team for only a short time before the American Association ended their season early, shut down due to World War I. Operations would pick up in earnest again in 1919. As a result there is a lone document dated 1918 and then (2) or more from seasons that followed. Most (not all) dated 1918-1923 will be signed by George Belden and John Van Nest and thereafter most are signed by Belden and M.J. Kelley (a player on the 1899 Louisville Colonels who then went on to a lengthy career as a Minor League Manager) and in later years many are only signed by Kelley. There are a few other signers sprinkled throughout. In addition, it appears that a handful of the documents may bear printed/mimeographed signatures. Handling and storage wear are evident throughout the covers with most interior pages showing only some light/mild toning. Includes Stoneham Family certificate of provenance: EX-NM
