Description: 1958 Bill Russell NBA All-Star Game Award (Russell's first NBA All-Star Game). Unique figural trophy as given to Bill Russell for his participation as the starting center for the Eastern Conference in the 1958 NBA All-Star Game. The game was played in St. Louis with the East defeating the West by a score of 130-118. Russell scored 11 points and collected 11 rebounds for the Eastern Conference team. Trophy displays a large brass figural basketball player positioned atop a two tiered walnut wooden plinth base. Inscribed brass placard affixed to the front, "N.B.A. East-West All Star Game St. Louis, January 15, 1958 Bill Russell". Very fine overall condition with minimal surface wear. Trophy remains in exceptional original condition with minimal handling wear. Original Spike's Trophies labeling under the base with relation to the long tenured Philadelphia trophy shop (Est. 1929) with ties to the EBL and JBL basketball leagues. Important award relating to Bill Russell's first NBA All-Star Game which would begin a run of consecutive appearances through 1969. Includes signed letter of provenance from Bill Russell: EX-MT
