Description: Bill Russell University of San Francisco letterman's blanket c.1953-56 Heavy gauge green wool athletic blanket dating to Russell's collegiate career with the University of San Francisco from 1953. School insignia patch sewn onto center area with "Russell" embroidered at one corner. Evident use throughout most noticeably in the form of some fraying to the yellow trim around the perimeter. Bill Russell led the Dons to two consecutive NCAA basketball titles in 1955 and 1956 behind his dominating play earning All-American recognition. Unique and rare identified piece with relation to one of the greatest collegiate athletes in sports history.
