Description: 1963 Bill Russell NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award (Only Career All-Star Game MVP Award)(Photo Match). Large 31" tall silverplated figural trophy as presented to Bill Russell for his selection as the MVP of the 1963 NBA East-West All-Star Game. The game was played in Los Angeles with Russell leading the East team to victory over Wilt Chamberlain and the West team by a score of 115-108. Russell scored 19 points and collected an amazing tally of 24 rebounds in the contest. Trophy features a handsome figural player affixed to the top of a full size basketball mounted on black painted wooden base. Inscribed silverplated placard on front with titling, date, and Russell’s name has been replaced. In Bill Russell’s twelve appearances as an Eastern Conference All-Star the 1963 game was his only All-Star MVP Award for his career. Accompanied by a framed black and white image of Russell receiving the offered MVP award which was displayed in the Russell home. Very fine and significant Russell award. Includes signed letter of provenance from Bill Russell: EX-MT. PLEASE NOTE: the trophy has a small repaired crack to the ankle area of the right leg. The repair does not measurably affect the visual appeal of the trophy and is mentioned for accuracy only.
