Description: Impressive 1885 Brooklyn Base Ball Club large format cabinet photograph. Large format photographic display showing uniformed members of the Brooklyn Grays of the American Association. As identified on the mount those shown include John Cassiday, Henry Porter, John Harkins, Ed Swartwood, Bill Phillips, Adonis Terry, Jim McTamany, Charlie Robinson, Pete Hotaling, Bill McClellan, Dave Oldfield, Germany Smith, George Pinkney, and Jimmy Peoples. The team "Brooklyn Base Ball Club 1885" is identified above and there is a "J.W. Bruce...Brooklyn" mark. Image itself (11"x14.75") has lightly toned with some minor scattered spotting and edge wear. Complete condition of the mount is unknown (as the piece is framed) however the visible area has a lone crease which can be seen at lower right. The image is one of the larger and more substantive of a professional team which we have seen dating to this period and was clearly done at the highest level of quality at the time.
