Description: Rare c.1920 Hilldale Club Negro League photographs incl. Louis Santop. Period scrapbook page (11.75"x15") having (4) sepia toned 4.5"x6.5" photographs affixed to either side showing views of a Hilldale exhibition game played c.1920 against the Parkesburg Iron baseball team. Most notable are a full body shot of Hall of Famer Louis Santop in uniform and additional in which he is shown attempting to tag out a runner sliding into home plate. Other shots include a Hilldale player/Manager arguing with the umpire, uniformed Hilldale players warming up, a pair of charming crowd shots, and (2) other game related photos (these not showing Hilldale players). Substantive Negro League photography from this period in notably rare and in the case of Hall of Famer Santop nearly non-existent.
