Description: John Cappelletti Penn State University football game used helmet c.1970-73. Original helmet as worn by Cappelletti during his historic career at Penn State including a 1973 National Championship and Heisman Trophy award winning season. Classic white helmet with single blue stripe displaying Cappelletti's "22" on both side panels. Interior padding remains intact with expected age toning, dryness. "Cappelletti" written in period black ink on one interior side pad. Helmet shows heavy use and according to Cappelletti may well have been the only example he used during his college career including the 1973 Heisman Trophy Award winning season. The facemask is original to the helmet with the small rubber clips having been replaced due to deterioration to the originals. Extremely rare offering of a succinctly documented game used helmet from a Heisman Trophy recipient and Penn State school icon.
