Description: Francis "Reds" Bagnell University of Pennsylvania football jersey with related helmet c.1950-51. Desirable jersey used by Bagnell during the era in which he set a pair of NCAA records (amassing 490 offensive yards in a win over Dartmouth and catching 14 consecutive passes), won a Maxwell Award, and finished third in the 1950 Heisman voting behind Vic Janowicz and Kyle Rote. White jersey with number "44" on both front and back has three quarter length red and blue sleeves. In the lower front tail are Rawlings, Pearson, size (42), and wash tags. Well preserved with use and wash wear throughout. Also includes a Wilson model F2150 helmet (size 7 3/8) which the Bagnell Family believes was used by Reds but not necessarily while playing for Pitt. Helmet shows nice use and has a piece of vintage trainers tape applied on front with now faded/unknown writing.
