Description: Scarce Hugh Duffy single signed baseball (d.1954)(PSA/DNA 4 VG-EX). Light to moderately toned red stitched baseball of high quality which is quite possibly official AL or NL ball but stampings have faded to illegibility. Signed by Duffy on side panel in black fountain pen rating 5/6 out of 10. Ball has some even toning and a few minor surface scratches. Duffy was regarded as one of the finest batsman of the late 19th century including a record setting iconic .440 batting average for the 1894 season. He ended his career with a .326 batting average and 2,236 hits earning election to the Hall of Fame in 1945. Incredibly rare single signed Hall of Famer baseball with the offered example being the first we have encountered in our 30 year company history.
