Description: 1954 World Series Game (1) full proof ticket (Willie Mays "The Catch" game). Full proof ticket mimics that which was issued for Game (1) of the 1954 World Series played at the Polo Grounds in New York between the New York Giants and the Cleveland Indians. The game was tied 2-2 in the 8th inning with two runners on when Vic Wertz slammed a 460 foot fly ball to deep center field. Willie Mays executed what is regarded as the greatest defensive play in World Series history making an over the shoulder catch and wheeling to fire the ball into the infield to hold the runners from advancing.
