Lot Number: 387

Description: Exceptional Rogers Hornsby professional model baseball bat c.1920s (PSA/DNA). Louisville Slugger 125 model bat with Hornsby facsimile signature in the barrel measures 34” long and weighs 35.5oz. Outstanding use is evident throughout with ball and contact marks covering the hitting surface which has grain swelling due to repeated contact. Some deadwood on the back has been secured in place with period nails. The bat has an area on the side of barrel which exhibits sidewritten identification which, in part, may not be original to the bat. A portion is clearly consistent with the markings commonly executed by Hillerich & Bradsby employee Henry Morrow but there are some additional Honrsby related markings which may have been added at later period according to John Taube with PSA/DNA. Rare game bat from one of the greatest hitters of the 1920-30s era. Includes LOA from PSA/DNA: VG-EX
