Description: Rare 1948 Mel Ott New York Giants professional model road jersey (SGC/Grob Superior/Excellent)(Ott Family Collection)(Ex-Hall of Fame exhibit). Heavy gauge grey flannel jersey retaining its original "New York" black on orange team lettering across the front with Ott's retired number "4" on the reverse. MacGregor/Goldsmith manufacturing label affixed inside the collar with size 42 indicator along with "Ott 4" chain stitched strip tag. Small chain stitched "1 48" set/year strip tag is attached inside the tail front area. Light evident use is visible while retaining beautiful original color and surface. Front is missing one button. Mel Ott game jerseys are among the most elusive and coveted of the 500 Home Run Club members with scant few having entered the marketplace. This particular jersey originated from Ott's personal collection and was on loan to the National Baseball Hall of Fame from the Ott family from 2013-2016.
