Description: Outstanding 1970 Brooks Robinson autographed Baltimore Orioles professional model home jersey (SGC/Grob Superior/Excellent) (World Series Championship). The Baltimore Orioles entered the 1970 season primed to retake their position as the World Champions of baseball having fallen to the Amazing Mets in 1969. The 1970 O's team did not disappoint ending the regular season with an incredible 108 wins and only one postseason loss en route to the World Championship. While the Orioles had a number of key contributors to their 1970 championship run there was no question that Brooks Robinson topped all others. Robinson blistered his way through the ALCS batting .583 in sweeping the Minnesota Twins. As an encore, Robinson hit .429, belted two home runs, and executed several in-human defensive plays in the World Series against the Cincinnati Reds. Offered may well be the finest Brooks Robinson game jersey to have entered the marketplace which is coming to auction for the first time. Cream color flannel jersey retaining its original "Orioles" orange on black tackle twill team name on front above matching "5". Reverse has "B.Robinson" lettering in black tackle twill above orange on black number "5". Wilson manufacturer's label at bottom of tail front with size 42 indicator and "1970 Set 1) chain stitched strip tag. Overall use and wash wear is exceptional including light soiling and few areas of residue around waist area consistent with belt contact. Defined "puckering" to numerals, lettering, and tagging. Bottom button is currently missing. Robinson has autographed the front in blue marker rating 8/9 out of 10. Based on period image comparison, while not conclusive, the offered shirt does in fact possess characteristics that closely resemble Robinson's 1970 World Series jersey. The jersey has remained in the personal collection of a Baltimore area gentleman who was formerly employed at the Baltimore Civic Center and Memorial Stadium as an usher. The Robinson hat and bat in this auction originated from the same consignor as this jersey. Without question, one of if not the finest Brooks Robinson game jersey to have been offered at auction.
