Description: Extremely rare 1908 Heinie Zimmerman Chicago Cubs World Championship lapel pin pendant. Original 14K gold lapel pin which had been presented to Heinie Zimmerman as a member of the World Champion 1908 Chicago Cubs. The lapel pin itself measures 3/4" long featuring the classic "Cubbie Bear" mascot seated atop a crossed bat and baseball motif. "09" year designation embossed on the ball indicative of the Cubs reign as champions for the 1909 National League season. Central diamond of approximately .16 total carat weight is found affixed to the middle. Overall weight of .8 Troy ounces. Zimmerman later had the lapel affixed to a 14K gold heart shaped pendant and presented it to his girlfriend Bertha Noe who would later become his wife. pre 1920 World Championship award pieces are exceedingly scarce and rarely offered for public sale.
