Description: July 20, 1962 Martin Luther King Jr. Speech File Copy from Jackie Robinson Hall of Fame dinner. Unique original nine page typewritten file copy of the keynote guest speaker speech as delivered by Martin Luther King Jr. at the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. The speech features incredible content with Dr. King remarking on Robinson's significance to not only baseball but to the civil rights movement. Dr. King closes the speech with, "And that is why we honor him tonight. It is because he has been supplied to us by a Divine Providence which seems to have replied to the impassioned plea of a poet who write long ago: 'God give us men". Several period ink notations are made within the body of the speech presumably by the reporter from the Amsterdam News who was in attendance. The lot also includes an original program for the dinner with image of Robinson on the front cover: EXEstimated Price Range: ($500-$1,000)
