Description: Exceptional 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle Rookie. Choice example of the single most desirable card issued in the post-war period is within the top two or three which we have handled in over thirty years. Perfectly centered with an essentially flawless surface there is the slightest touch to corners visible only under magnification. A pair of minute imperfections on either edge (again not readily apparent without close inspection) are the only possible attributes that could account for the presented technical grade. When describing high condition graded cards of this type and value level we believe it very important to carefully choose those examples that truly deserve additional contextual information. This particular card demands as much. It is well documented within the current marketplace that standards for the major grading companies have become incredibly strict in comparison with the population of previously graded cards over the last 10-20 years. For a card of this quality and condition scarcity it simply must be quantified that it has been graded within these recent parameters and in our opinion presents as NM or better.
