Description: Exceptional Baseball Folk Art quilt c.1880-1900. Large 73" square handmade quilt displaying a wonderful repeating pattern of an early baseball scene depicting uniformed batter and catcher. Quilt is reversible with classic polychrome patchwork dÄcor on the other side. General condition is outstanding with appropriate light age handling/toning while retaining strong original color. Quilting was a fundamental home decorative fixture during the 19th and early 20th century with various themes reflecting items of cultural importance in American life.
