Lot Number: 120

Description: Exceedingly scarce 1915 Joe Jackson autographed recognizance bond. Important document is one of a select few extant which bear the signature of Joe Jackson, one of baseballs' most noted early stars and historically significant figures. Known to have been only semi-literate, it is believed that he learned to sign his name by copying the handwriting of his wife, Katie, and did so with great effort and only occasions in which it was of utmost importance. The offered "Joe Jackson" signature (done in fountain pen rating 7-7/8 out of 10) is one of the most well documented to have surfaced and appears on a portion of a legal document which secured a $400 bond against a future court appearance of his brother Dave. Light toning and some mild wear includes a pair of fold lines and a very minor (approx. .25") spilt along the horizontal fold at each edge. Includes full LOA from JSA: Sig. NM, Document VG/EX
